Irish Independent - Wednesday June 04 2008
"The La Touche Hotel site in Greystones, Co Wicklow, is being sold by its receiver, Jim Luby, with an asking price of €15m.

AIB bank appointed Mr Luby of McStay Luby to a number of companies, including Palestake Developments and Tiknito Ltd, which were formed on a joint venture basis by Tom and Paul Hayden with Bennett Construction to develop the 2.2-acre site.

They received full planning permission for 85 large apartments, a 1,464sqm, 10-bedroom hotel and six ground-floor retail and office units with a combined floor space of 818sqm."

Fine Gael Wicklow TD, Simon Harris, is to write to the National Assets Management Agency looking for an update on the status of the La Touche site in Greystones.

Deputy Harris said, “The excellent work of the Greystones Tidy Towns committee was recognised today with the publication of the 2011 Tidy Towns Competition Results. However while the work of the committee received high praise, the “dreadful” state of the derelict La Touche site was singled out for comment by the inspector – with particular reference made to the poor state of the hoarding at the site.”

“I have been pursuing this issue in my role as a public representative for some time and now that the owner of the site has been identified I have now written to NAMA seeking an update on plans for the site.”
“NAMA have a duty to ensure that properties and sites within their control are maintained. The people of Greystones and all the volunteers in Tidy Towns who work so hard for our town deserve no less!”
