Balbriggan Harbour Is Believed To Be 240 Years Old

Balbriggan has a rich maritime heritage and it still retains an active fishing fleet.
Balbriggan & Skerries harbours are located in North county Dublin and fall under the jurisdiction of Fingal County Council. Responsibility for Balbriggan and Skerries harbours was handed over to FCC by Ministerial Order on the 30th of June 2004 from the Dublin Port Company. Balbriggan harbour is the larger of the two harbours. It is believed to be 240 years old and comprises of two piers, the east pier and the west pier. The west pier was extended at a later date to form the second outer harbour. It is a busy fishing harbour with many fishing related activities taking place on the harbour quays.
